Dallas Theological Seminary description of Parachurch Ministry focus:

Trained and able to organize and supervise various parachurch ministries either in the
United States or internationally for Scriptural alignment and principles, and Godly oversight to ensure proper relationship of God's Church and organizations with His Local Church..

Reflection Statement for Ministry Distinctive:

In terms of Parachurch perspective, my prior experience over years served as a sound foundation including working with Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) and the Gideons as a Scripture Chaplain and member active in Scripture distributions and a frequent Pastor Banquet Speaker where I woiuld share my testimony of how I was saved by God while reading His Word in a Gideon's Bible. My DTS internship serving as a Chaplain in Encompass Health Network Hospitals in DFW, provided a fresh and new Parachurch context and was a rich experience which allowed for much growth.  in my internship, I learned  what it was like to minister in a Parachurch organization which was comprised of Chaplains and supporting personnel.  My on campus time serving as Chaplain was cut short due to the Covid Crisis, however,  as a result I was able to spend more time with my fellow Chaplains who came from all walks of life and were spread across Dallas and Houston.

Learning Reflection:

During my time as an Intern Chaplain, I learned  how to partner with churches in this experience, sometimes serving as a liaison between the patient and their home church of various denominations and traditions. In this sense, I was truly working "para", which literally means "along side" the local church and it really brought home to me what parachurch ministry is all about and how to best partner with the local church and what distinctions exist, or boundaries.   This experience was a great tie in to ministry life and complimented my Parachurch Ministry Degree work as part of my MACE and provided a good balance of experience and academic preparation.   This degree work has also given me clarity and a new encouragement to work in parachurch ministries, drawing on my experiences from the past including Campus Crusade for Christ and The Gideons.

Lifelong Development Statement:

As a result of this concentration and field experience, I will continue to grow in ministry both in the church and parachurch ministries, helping the two to compliment each other and each supporting the other where appropriate, with  the goal to strengthen the Body of Christ and to bring glory to God.
